Besides the spectacular Sanctuary with its limestone Basilica, there are other sights not to be missed such as the Holm Oak Tree, where the three children witnessed the apparitions, the children’s houses and the ‘Capelinha’, the small chapel that was built exactly where the apparitions took place.
Over the years the quality of accommodation has only increased reaching excellent levels of comfort and elegance and today, a holiday in Fátima also means a quiet and spiritual destination where you’ll be able to enjoy the beautiful natural surroundings.
The towns of Leiria, Batalha and Nazaré are not far and can make for an excellent day’s excursion. And something not to be missed are the remarkable ‘Mira de Aire’ Caves, the largest in Portugal and just 15 km away from Fátima.
